How to install GoodNews Theme

Install WordPress

Download and Install WordPress 3.8 or later.

If you need more info on how to install WordPress please follow the instructions at: http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress

Theme Download

On ThemeForest, you can either download the full theme package or just the installable wordpress theme zip file.

The full package includes the PSDs, documentation & child theme.

If you are installing the theme via WordPress, make sure you are uploading the zip file located within the Theme folder.

• goodnews.zip (This is the main theme  that you need to upload)
• goodnews-child.zip (This would be the child theme that you can upload and activate if you need to override the main theme styles & functionalities)

Theme Installation

Via WordPress

1. Log in to the WordPress Administration Panel.
2. Select the Appearance panel, then Themes.
3. Select Add New.
4. Use the Upload link in the top links row to upload the zipped copy of the theme that you have previously downloaded.

Via FTP

1. Extract the zipped theme file that you have previously downloaded.
2. Using an FTP client (Filezilla, WinSCP, Cyberduck) to access your host web server.
3. Upload the theme folder to the wp-content/themes directory provided by WordPress.

Theme Activation

1. Log in to the WordPress Administration Panel.
2. Select the Appearance panel, then Themes.
3. Select the uploaded theme and click the Activate button.

Install Plugins

Note: Make sure the folder “wp-content/uploads” exists. If not, please create it and set write permissions (CHMOD 777).

After theme activation you will see a “recommended plugins” notice. Click the “Begin installing plugins” link in order to install required / optional theme plugins.  

Make sure you activate them after installation.
